He has demanded additional protection from state officials for himself and his family before coming to the university citing threats from "nuisance elements and outsiders". He has written a letter in this regard to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).
Protests against CAA have been going on in AMU since December 9 : Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Akash Kulhari informed that police have been deployed in VC Lodge, Registrar Office and Administrative Block. Protests against CAA have been going on at AMU since 9 December. On the night of 15 December, the agitation turned violent and the police entered the campus when the university administration feared danger.
Movement continued on campus after the holiday: Following the incident, the university administration issued a notice on December 16 to pursue the winter holiday, which was scheduled from December 23. The administration asked the students to vacate the hostel, while the remaining students continued to protest. The atmosphere of the campus was heated due to this.
University officials have assured that cases will be withdrawn from innocent students : University officials on Sunday assured the students that in case of innocent students, an attempt will be made to quash the FIR. . Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor made it clear that if students protest peacefully, there is no bar for them.
