Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Chairman of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, confirmed this. He informed that the first store (1984 store brand-departmental store) is being opened in the historic Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Connaught Place. While the next store is scheduled to be opened in the historic Rakabganj Sahib. He said that by the end of next year, a target has been set to implement this scheme in all gurdwaras. It is said that all the necessary documentary procedures have been completed for Sirsa. The business will be on the lines of co-operative module ie cooperative and partnership system, in which all the activities including the management, administration, of shops will be carried out by a management committee made up of members of the riot-affected families. This will be their common heritage. The benefit of this will also be divided among these families.

Sirsa said – Sikh devotees coming to the gurdwaras from these shops will start getting religious, cultural, spiritual items related to Sikhism at the same place in the gurdwara premises itself. Not only this, the items used by the Sikh community everyday such as turban, comb, briefs, kirpan, Sikh religious books, religious CDs, DVDs, and literature related to Sikhism are also available, especially at affordable rates from the market. Through this, the people of the aggrieved family will also be able to sell various items of daily use such as pickles, marmalade, spices, papad, namkeen, sweets, cookies, badis etc. made in their home.
