At the headquarters of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), there was a furore over the issue of taking NOCs for development work in unauthorized colonies on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Sangeeta Kangra and Corporal Dnyanesh Bharti was also present. The meeting was held to discuss the budget proposal for the financial year 2020-21.
In this meeting, Leader of the House Kamaljit Sehrawat targeted the Delhi government, saying that the corporators are responsible for the development work in the authorized colonies but Delhi government is responsible for development in unauthorized colonies.
Meanwhile, he said that the Delhi government should take NOC from the corporation to do any development work in the authorized colonies but it is not done. After this, Leader of Opposition Kishanwati made a ruckus, alleging that the councilors of the area where the Delhi government works for development, do not give NOC. After this there was a lot of uproar between the two sides.
While Maya Singh Bisht, a councilor of Sangam Vihar ward, alleged that in 2007, the corporation gave an NGO named Manushi in his area to run 160 shops. These shops were given on rent to the people but since 2007 no revenue has been received by the corporation.
He demanded that these shops be vacated and allotted with a new head so that the corporation gets revenue. Till now, the corporation could get crores
of rupees from these shops, which could not be found.
