Due to record eight feet of snowfall on Rohtang Pass, the Manali-Leh road has been closed for vehicular movement three weeks earlier. Even though the route is officially closed from November 15 to May, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been restoring it for the convenience of the people during the season opening till December 31.

Traffic from Rohtang Tunnel is closed from 25 November, while Rohtang Pass is closed from 19 November. Although the BRO had restored the snow by removing it from the pass, it has been closed again due to the icy storm surrounding Rohtang for a week.
