The spark of violent demonstrations in the vicinity of Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University against the Citizenship Amendment Act has reached Uttar Pradesh. In a statement issued by the office of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, CM appealed for peace and harmony, 'Do not ignore any rumors spread by some vested selfish elements in the context of the Citizenship Amendment Act . The state government is fully committed to providing security to every citizen. For this it is also necessary that law should be followed by all citizens. No one is allowed to influence the atmosphere of peace prevailing in the state.

IG told- Staff fully attentive, taking precaution

Pravin Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Uttar Pradesh, said, 'There is peace in the whole of Uttar Pradesh. The staff on the ground is fully attentive and connected to all concerned. The entire precaution is being taken. Please tell that after the violent demonstration in Delhi, an alert has been issued in Uttar Pradesh. Section 144 has been imposed in 6 districts of western UP, Aligarh, Bulandshahar, Kasganj, Meerut, Saharanpur, Bareilly, adjacent to Delhi. Internet services have been temporarily banned in Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh.

Earlier in Aligarh Muslim University, there was a situation of tension after a clash between students and police on Sunday evening. Some other people, including the DIG of Aligarh, were injured in the stone pelting during the clash. Immediately, all the top officials including the ADG of Agra zone were sent to the spot. Ajay Anand, ADG, Agra Zone sent to Aligarh, said, 'The situation is completely under control. All necessary steps will be taken to maintain law and order. On the other hand, Meerut DM Anil Dhingra said that Internet services have been stopped till 12 noon on Monday.
