New Delhi . Opposition parties will meet on Monday to discuss the students' protests, citizenship law, NRC and the current political situation in the country. It will not include Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BSP chief Mayawati.
Mamta Banerjee announced that she would not attend the opposition meeting due to the clashes between Left parties and Trinamool Congress workers during the trade union strike last week. He said that I gave the idea of meeting to the opposition. Because of what happened in the state, it is no longer possible for me to attend the meeting. I first started the movement against NRC-CAA. What the Left and Congress are doing in the name of CAA-NRC is not a movement, but a vandalism.
Mayawati described Priyanka's meeting with the victims' families as drama
Mayawati too recently attacked Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at a hospital in Kota, Rajasthan, for data on the deaths of children. He had said that if the Congress General Secretary did not go to the quota to meet the mothers who had lost the children, their meeting with the families of the victims in Uttar Pradesh would be considered political interest and drama.
Sonia calls CAA divisive law
Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday termed the citizenship law as a discriminatory and divisive law, which aims to divide people on religious grounds. The party demanded immediate withdrawal of the CAA and halted the NPR process.
Many Chief Ministers said – they will not implement CAA-NRC in their states
Last month, the police took action against the students of Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia protesting against the CAA. After this, demonstrations started in universities across the country. Political parties also joined it. The BJP has accused the Congress of misleading people over the CAA. Mamta Banerjee and several Chief Ministers in Congress ruled states have said that they will not allow CAA or NRC in their states. On the other hand, a resolution in the Kerala Legislative Assembly was not passed to the CAA in the state.
