The Delhi High Court has sought reply from the Delhi Government on a petition filed against the ban on the sale of beer and liquor in the departmental store. The petition sought to repeal the Delhi government's decision. The High Court has fixed the next hearing of the case on February 3.
This petition has been filed before the High Court through advocate Amit Saxena on behalf of a private department store. The petition said that the Delhi government recently issued a direct notice to the department store to stop the sale of beer and liquor without first informing it. It was argued that the government did not give an opportunity to present his side on the issue.
The Delhi government issued a notice in December 2019 stating the sale of beer and liquor at all Delhi's department stores. That many licensee department stores have turned into a liquor store completely by following the excise
rules. The High Court has directed the Delhi government to file a reply in this regard by 3 February.
