This petition has been filed before the High Court on behalf of a private department store through advocate Amit Saxena. The petition said that the Delhi government recently issued a direct notice to the department store to stop the sale of beer and liquor without first informing it. It was contended that the Government did not give an opportunity to present his side on this issue.
The Delhi Government issued notices in December 2019 for prohibiting the sale of beer and liquor in all the departmental stores of Delhi. The licensee department store has turned into a liquor shop completely by following excise rules. The High Court has directed the Delhi government to file a reply in this regard by 3 February.
