Panu Kholia, a noted writer and senior Hindi litterateur, died on Wednesday morning. He breathed his last at his residence in Malli Bamouri. He was 80 years old and had been ill for some time. He was cremated at Ranibagh Chitrashila Ghat.

His major works include 'Dandanayak', 'Anna', 'Ek Kishti' and 'Broken Sun Image'. Panu's two novels 'Vahan' and 'Let me go home' have been active in Hindi writing for more than five decades. Panu Kholia was born in 1939 in Deoli village of Almora.

He received his higher education from Almora after getting his primary education from the village. After graduating from Agra University, he became a professor in the Rajasthan Higher Education Department. After completing service there,

he was permanently living in Haldwani for the last two decades. They have one son and four daughters.
