Ministry of Railways will run stranded railway projects worth 75 thousand crores. Work is on for 68 such schemes across the country. These include railway line extension, bridge, underpass and other projects. Railway Board Chairman V.K. Yadav said that a target has been set to complete these projects in one year. For this, schemes are divided into 'severe' (which has not spent much money) and 'very serious' (which has spent more money). Ministry of Railways is working on 126 projects. The plan of the Ministry is to implement the 'very serious' category schemes first. The Railway Ministry has spent a lot of money in this category. 68 projects are of very serious category. The ministry has invested 76 percent of the money in these projects and requires only 24 percent of the money. This amount is about eight thousand crores. Money will be released soon for these schemes and they will be completed in a timeframe of one year. It
Among the important schemes that the Ministry of Railways is currently implementing are separate freight tracks, CCTV surveillance, upgrading the signal system, electrification of lines and converting single lines to dual line system. The Ministry of Railways has also prepared a working list of serious category projects. There are 58 projects in this category. These 58 projects have been started and the Ministry has spent 9% of the money so far. According to an estimate, about 75 thousand crore rupees will be needed to complete these projects. The Ministry plans that these will be completed in the second phase. These schemes mostly include such schemes which are to be carried forward under private participation in the near future.
