Between Kandorur bridge of Bilaspur to Hamirpur, about 45 km of National Highway has been widened to paper and to save other engineers including Chief Engineer of Public Works Department NH in the matter of poor construction work. The top officials of the Public Works Department are putting the entire responsibility of their engineers on the contractor and after the government ordered the action to be taken.
The question is that when the poor construction work took place between Kandorur bridge of Bilaspur to Hamirpur, where were the engineers at that time? Why did the engineers not prevent the contractor from doing inferior construction work? The contractor was paid millions of rupees. Principal Secretary Chief Minister Sanjay Kundu said that no compromise will be made on the quality of work in the state at any cost.
The government sent a team of officers and staff of the Quality Monitoring Cell on the spot after which the report of substandard construction has been submitted to the government. At the same time, the government has directed to take action on the contractor including Chief Engineer National Highway, Superintending Engineer National Highway, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer, but the Public Works Department is engaged in unilateral action to save its engineers.

Not only Hamirpur NH from Kandalore bridge of Bilaspur but also other National Highways under construction in the state are under suspicion. It is being told that the engineers of Public Works Department have rigged these NHs as well. Here, the
Ministry of Road Transport has also taken seriously the disturbances in NH. Himachal's engineers are being blamed in this.
