Aditya Thackeray may take over the reins of government in Maharashtra at the end of this term, replacing his father Uddhav Thackeray. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has made Aditya a cabinet minister in his cabinet under this strategy. Actually, Shiv Sena initially proposed Aditya to be the CM before the Congress and NCP during the talks on the process of forming the government. The two parties had then agreed on Uddhav's name citing Aditya's administrative inexperience. However, now Shiv Sena has started the process of increasing his political stature by giving responsibility to Aditya.
According to Shiv Sena sources, the party wanted to make Aditya the CM from the beginning. It was under this strategy that for the first time a member from the Thackeray family as Aditya, contested. The party is eyeing a crucial BMC election in 2022. Aditya will play an important role on behalf of the party in this election.
