The Supreme Court can hear the petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 on 18 December. At the same time, AIMIM chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Saturday challenging this amendment act. According to the Supreme Court website, the Supreme Court can hear the petition of the Indian Union of Muslim League next Wednesday. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, TMC MP Moeen Mauitra, Peace Party, Rhea Manch and Citizens Against Hate (jointly), Sambiosis Law School student including Ehtasham Hashmi, Pradyot Dev Varman, Jan Adhikar Party General Secretary Faizuddin, former High Commissioner Dev Mukherjee, Advocate ML Sharma, AASU and Assam leaders Ratipaksh Debabrata Saikia including many others also filed petitions.
