Five and a half lakh poor families of Himachal will be given flour in place of wheat in the government ration shops (depots) of cheap ration from January. Till now wheat was provided to these Antyodaya consumers at Rs 2 per kg. For milling wheat, five rupees are charged per kg, but the government will take only Rs 1.20 from them. That is, flour will be available for Rs 3.20 per kg. The government will give 20 kg of flour and 15 kg of rice to Antyodaya families.
Due to repeated demand of the people, the government has issued its allotment. The central government provides wheat to APL and Antyodaya family. The state government at its level provides wheat milling to APL families to give flour, while Antyodaya families are given wheat. The people of Antyodaya family were continuously pressurizing the state government to give flour.
The argument was that first the wheat has to be cleaned and after that it has to go away for grinding. 5 rupees is taken for grinding one kg of wheat. Now the state government has decided to give flour to Antyodaya families on the lines of APL.
12 lakh APL families of the state will get 70 paise per kg of flour in January. Earlier consumers were given flour for Rs 8.60, now they will get Rs 9.30 per kg. The state government has issued its orders.
Antyodaya families will now be given flour instead of wheat. Flour will start getting from January. This
decision has been taken due to repeated demands of the people.
