Shimla city will get new mayor and deputy mayor tomorrow. Before this, the claimants of these posts will be decided on Monday. Both the BJP and Congress parties will decide the contenders by this evening. However, there is suspense on whether to make them public before the election.
Both parties are still avoiding making their claimants public. The BJP believes that if the name of the claimant becomes public on Monday, the Congress can harm the party by meeting angry councilors. In such a situation, the councilors can be told the names of the contenders just before the election.
On the other hand, the Congress is also preparing to field its contenders only after seeing the BJP contenders. Voting is to be held at Bachat Bhawan situated at the Deputy Commissioner office premises at 11 am on Tuesday. The municipal administration has completed its preparations. Voting will be held on Wednesday in the event of quorum not being completed.

in BJP. Many BJP councilors had planned to meet the minister on Sunday evening to substantiate their claim. But by the evening when the minister did not reach Shimla, he felt disappointed. However, councilors kept in touch with him over the phone. Education minister and local MLA may also make deputy mayor Rakesh Sharma a contender for the post of councilor amidst booming councilors.
In such a situation Shailendra Chauhan, Meera Sharma will be out of the race for deputy mayor. If the names of deputy mayors, Satya Kaundal and Sanjeev Thakur
are not agreed, then the current mayor, Kusum Sadrett, will continue as mayor for the next two and a half years.
