The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has condemned the removal of Punjabi as a second language in schools in Haryana. The committee has demanded a review of this decision. A letter has been written to Chief Minister Manohar Lal regarding this.

Committee Chairman Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that 40 percent of the Punjabi population of the state has been shocked by the decision to introduce Telugu instead of Punjabi in schools.

He said that Haryana is a separate state from Punjab and Punjabi is the main language of more than half of the state's population. On the other hand, international president of Jago Party Manjit Singh GK said that removal of Punjabi language is unfortunate. There is a conspiracy to eliminate Punjabi language in Haryana, which is part of Punjab province.

Promise for jobs and assistance

Earlier the committee had also promised assistance for providing jobs to the riot victims. It was said that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee would provide legal assistance to the members of the families of the victims of the Sikh riots to get government jobs. Committee chairman Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that despite the court order, 63 people have not got the job yet.
