Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) officer Krishna Gopal has justified the removal of his life after the appointment of Feroze Khan in the Sanskritology theology department of Banaras Hindu University. The Sangh has once again indicated that the right to teach here is exclusively for Hindus.

At a function organized in the capital on the occasion of the 158th birth anniversary of BHU founder Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya ji, RSS co-worker Krishna Gopal said That this department is for teaching the rites of Hindus.

Before the establishment of BHU in 1916, a law was passed in Parliament in 1915. It had two streams. One would be religious education compulsory for Hindu students and the other would be a member of a non-Hindu university committee. Both were later removed.

He stated that the purpose of this department was to impart religious education to Hindu children. Those interested in Hindu rites and religion should come here and teach.

Till 1952, religious education was compulsory for Hindu students in every BHU department, but later it became optional. But Sanskrit learning continued in the Department of Religion.
