The Supreme Court has decided to hear on Tuesday the matter of police action against the students of Jamia and Aligarh Muslim University. CJI Bobde said, simply because someone was asked to leave the campus, public properties were damaged. The buses were set on fire. It should stop at all costs. In fact, senior lawyers Indira Jaising, Colin Gonsalves and other lawyers had requested Chief Justice Bobde to take suo motu cognizance of the case.

The lawyers said that a team of retired judges should be sent to the university campus , Then the situation will be under control. Jaisingh said, the human rights situation is serious all over the country. To this, the bench said, "The court is not saying who is guilty and who is not guilty.

We are not saying that the student is responsible and the police are innocent." We know what their rights are. The Chief Justice also said, I do not think the court can do much in this. This is a law and order problem. The police will have to deal with it. Apart from CJI, the bench also had Justice BR Gavai and Justice Suryakant.

Jaising told the court that serious violence was committed against the students. Many of them also have broken arms and legs, who have been hospitalized. Citing a clash between lawyers and police in the Tis Hazari court complex, he said, Delhi High Court had passed orders taking suo motu cognizance of the matter.

He said, no one can stop the demonstrations. We do not want any kind of violence. These riots were deliberately carried out against the students. At the same time, Gonsalves said that he had gone to the hospital and lockup where the police had placed the students.

In front of the bench, the petitioner also said that there was an alleged video of violence by the police. In response, the CJI rebuked the petitioner and said that this is a court room, it has to be put here peacefully.

At the same time, the Delhi High Court refused to immediately hear the petition filed against the action of the police in Jamia. The petitioner demanded a judicial inquiry into the violence in Jamia. Also said that the injured students taken into custody should be given medical facility and compensation.

However, a bench of High Court Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C Harishankar asked the petitioner to reach the court through the registry itself.

Hearing on petitions challenging the citizenship law tomorrow

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear on Wednesday all the petitions, including the Congress, challenging the citizenship law. Among those who petitioned were former Tripura Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.
