After Sunday's violent incident around Jamia Millia Islamia, the Jamia administration will file an FIR against the entry of Delhi Police into the University campus without permission. Not only this, the university will also demand the formation of a committee from the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry to conduct a high-level inquiry into the incident. This was stated by the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Professor Najma Akhtar and the Registrar AP Siddiqui at a press conference held on the university campus on Monday.

Akhtar said in a press conference here that the police had entered the premises without permission. We will not tolerate police presence on campus. He intimidated the students and staff by his vandalism. University property has been severely damaged. He said that we will lodge an FIR regarding damage to property and police action against students. We want a high-level inquiry. An appeal will be made to the Minister of Human Resources to find out who is at fault in the action taken on Sunday.

I had already spoken to the Secretary of the HRD Ministry and told them about the situation. The executive council (EC) meeting of the university was called on Monday to discuss the situation. He said that what is the damage to the morale of the students? We are assessing the damage.

The Vice-Chancellor said that we had already declared a holiday because we wanted to protect our students. Vice Chancellor said that we are not forcing any students to vacate the hostel but we will help them in this. We are not associated with any political organization and we will not allow anyone to come here.

Jamia Registrar AP Siddiqui said that it was a war-like situation. We questioned the Joint Commissioner of Police regarding the firing and he denied it. There is no stone pelting on the policemen from inside the premises. If some outsiders have done so, we have no means to confirm it.
