The Supreme Court has expressed concern about the protests taking place across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. CJI CJI SA Bobde said that the country is going through a difficult time. There should be an effort for peace. Actually, Puneet Kaur Dhanda had filed a petition in the Supreme Court and demanded an early hearing on it. The petition said that action should be taken against activists, students and media houses who spread 'false rumors'. And there has been a demand to declare CAA as 'constitutional'. On this, the CJI said that such petitions do not help. We will hear constitutionalism when violence stops.

It is important to note that there are protests against citizenship law in many parts of the country. On Thursday, the Rashtriya Manch, a non-political organization led by former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, launched a 'Gandhi Shanti Yatra' from Mumbai to Delhi in protest against the CAA-NRC. Leaders of various opposition parties can join during the yatra through Gujarat. The 3,000-km-long journey, which started on January 9 from Mumbai's Apollo Bandar, will end at Rajghat in Delhi via Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana on January 30.
