Delhi Assembly Polls 2020: Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has accused the Kejriwal government of destroying Delhi's education system, saying that the Delhi government is playing with the future of children. Puri tweeted that the Delhi government is playing with the future of children and celebrating happiness after ruining the education system. He (Delhi government) has opened a bundle of lies to divert attention from his failures. There has been a steady decline in the number of children passing out in schools. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi is projecting the implementation of world-class education model in the national capital as a major achievement of the Kejriwal government.
Puri questioned the AAP government's claims citing the students' passing data that the number of students who passed the secondary school examination dropped from 99.4 per cent in 2014 to 68.9 per cent in 2018. Is it a matter of pride? He said that the standard of education of students of classes three, five and eighth is 10 percent less than the national average and those people (Delhi government) call it success. Puri said that the full potential of the students is not improving as one third of these schools do not have the option of science stream. The disturbing thing is that some private schools have been closed due to some policies of the state government. This left children who wanted to study science in the balance.
Puri also blamed the Delhi government for the misdeeds in the K MCD, saying that the Delhi government had destroyed the city's education system and the morale of teachers of MCD schools. 70 percent of the money that MCD spends on education has to be returned to the Delhi government. But due to the habit of snagging, he (Delhi government) has also stopped this money. In another tweet, he quoted the Delhi government's dues data on the municipal corporations that the Delhi government owes Rs 3,941 crore to the Northern MCD, Rs 569 crore to the Eastern MCD and Rs 223 crore to the Southern MCD.
