The national capital Delhi is still unsafe for women. The figures given by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) in this regard are quite shocking. According to these figures, the highest number of crimes against women occurred in the year 2018. In the year 2018, about 13,640 cases have been registered in Delhi on the complaint of women. Cases of crime have increased not only with women but also in the year 2018. As of 2017, more than 18,198 cases are pending. There are more cases of rape, torture, acid attack, cruelty etc. by husband or relatives. The number of pending cases in Mumbai is around 7,663.
Some senior police officers and women security experts believe that reports of crime against women are now being recorded more than ever. This means that earlier where many women could not file reports due to stress and other reasons, they are now coming forward. One thing has also come out that most of the crimes against women were related to cruelty and complaints were lodged against the husband or relatives. In the year 2018, 1,217 cases of rape have been reported in Delhi. In Karnataka, 13,514 cases of crime were registered against women whereas in Haryana the number of such cases is 14,326.
