Today, on January 8, 10 trade unions have called for the Bharat Bandh . This will impact the strike on banking as well as transport and other services. Trade unions say that about 25 crore people from across the country will join this strike against the anti-people policies of the government. Many banks have informed the stock exchange about the strike on Wednesday and the impact on the banking service. Employees associations of several banks like AIBEA, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, INBOC and Bank Employees Army Federation have expressed their willingness to join the strike.

Public sector banking services such as deposit and withdrawal and check clearing may be affected due to the strike on Wednesday. However, the strike will not be affected in the private bank sector. Apart from banking, transportation and other essential services can also be disrupted due to the nationwide strike. In West Bengal, the trade union associated with the Left and other parties has announced a shutdown against the economic policies of the BJP-led central government. However, the state government says that it does not support any bandh.

Opposing anti government policies of the government

10 Trade Unions issued a joint statement saying, 'The Ministry of Labor has completely failed to give assurance on any demand of workers in the meeting convened on 2 January. The attitude of the government is contempt for labor. ' It says, 'We expect 25 crore laborers to be involved in the nationwide strike on 8 January. We will oppose the government's anti-labor, anti-people and anti-national policies through a strike, '' he said.



Cash may be problem in ATM

Bank unions have also announced to join Bharat Bandh on Wednesday. This may cause shops to remain closed. Also, functioning in the bank can also be affected. There may be cash problems in ATMs. Here, the government has warned that if the central employees take part in this strike, their salary can be cut. Citing the rules, the DOPT has stated that salary and allowance will not be accepted if any employee is absent in the absence of any acceptance.

DOPT will not join strike

The DOPT has issued an order to all central employees not to join the strike. An employee is also ordered not to take casual leave. Banks' unions have issued a statement saying that they should join with the trade unions in this strike. All India Bank Employees Association, All India Bank Officers Association, Bank Employees Federation of India, Indian National Bank Employees Federation, Indian National Bank Officers Congress and Bank Employees Army Federation have said to join the strike.

On the other hand, All India Bank Officers Confederation has said not to participate in this strike. Confederation general secretary Soumya Dutta told NBT that we support the trade unions' demands, but will not participate in the strike. This confederation is one of the larger confederations of bank officers.

Who else supports the strike?

In addition, officials of 60 Student Union, Universities have also announced to be part of the strike. They will oppose the increase in fees and commercialization of education in educational institutions.

Which bank union are involved?

6 Bank Unions- All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA), BEFI, INBEF, INBOC and Bank Employees Army Federation (BKSM) have stated that they will support the strike. Banks supported by the unions will be closed on January 8. However, the country's largest state-run State Bank of India (SBI) has said that it hopes that the shutdown will not have much impact on SBI, as there are very few employees of the bank who are part of the strike union.

What will not work in bank?

Cash withdrawal and deposit from the bank will not be possible, besides check clearing will not be done. However, there will be no impact on the functioning of online banking. Many banks have informed the stock market that they will remain closed on January 8.
