New Delhi . The Delhi High Court on Tuesday requested WhatsApp-Google to present police with information related to the JNU violence and secure it. The court directed the Delhi Police to problem summons to the witnesses and confiscate the cellular phones of the two WhatsApp group 'Friends of RSS' and 'Unity Against Left' members. The function of each WhatsApp teams in the violence on January 5 was revealed.

Justice Brijesh Sethi directed the JNU administration to present CCTV footage of the violence demanded by the police at the earliest. Earlier on Monday, the court heard the pleas of 3 JNU professors Amit Parameswaram, Atul Sood and Shukla Vinayak Sawant. In this, the three professors appealed to the High Court to direct the CCTV footage of the violence to be protected.

'JNU administration didn’t get response on protected retaining footage of violence'

The court has requested the police, Delhi authorities, WhatsApp, Apple and Google until Three pm on Tuesday. During the listening to, Delhi Police said- it has not but obtained a reply from the JNU administration for preserving the footage of the violence. The police additionally mentioned that they’d requested WhatsApp to hold the information of two Unity Against Left and 'Friends of RSS' teams operating messages related to the violence.

Violence in hostels, concentrating on students-teachers

On 5 January in JNU, masked males beat up college students and academics badly with sticks and iron rods. The attackers created chaos in the campus for 2 and a half hours. Many individuals have been injured on this assault, together with scholar union president Aishi Ghosh. Aishi blamed the ABVP whereas the ABVP blamed the Left for the incident. Crime Branch of Delhi Police is investigating this case. Three FIRs have been registered with Vasantkunj Police Station.
