Apart from this, the decision to increase the hostel fees included withdrawal and taking action against ABVP workers in the masked crowd. After a long meeting on the issue, the students called for further protest after the ministry did not immediately address it.
On behalf of the ministry, it was made clear that JNU VC M Jagdish Kumar will not be removed. . The ministry says that removing them is not a solution. The government wants that the issues that are there are resolved. The talks will be held once again on Friday. Ministry officials said that the formula was created on increase in fees between students and administration. It should apply. There was talk between Amit Khare, Secretary in the Ministry, Student Organization and Teacher's Association. Khare said that removing VC is not a solution. The problem first has to be reached.
The aim of the ministry is to focus on academic issues, not political. VC said that under the formula which was drawn last month, we are not charging utility fees.
After the meeting of all the parties in November it was decided that JNU administration will only charge the increased hostel fees and pay the utility charge to the UGC. In return, the students will end their agitation. But the students allege this formula was never implemented.
Necessary to remove VC
The attack on students and teachers was horrific. We will remember this till the last breath. We accept nothing less than the removal of VC. This is the appeal to our ministry.
