In an unforeseen development, the US has killed Major General Qasim Sulemani, head of Iran's highly trained Quds Force, by air attack in Iraq's capital Baghdad late Thursday. It is being told that Sulaimani's convoy was heading towards Baghdad Airport, during which the US launched an air strike. Deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Force Abu Mehdi Al Muhandis is also reported to have been killed in this attack.
Iranian state TV has confirmed the death of Sulaimani. Explain that Sulemani is considered to be the principal strategist to carry out Iranian activities in West Asia. Sulemani was accused of establishing his roots in Syria and conducting rocket attack attacks in Israel. America had long been looking for Sulaimani.
After this American attack, tension in West Asia is believed to increase. The US has launched the attack at a time when the Iran-backed militia attacked the US embassy in Baghdad. Recently, the US Finance Ministry alleged that the Quds Force, a unit of Iran's Revolutionary Guards responsible for foreign operations, supported Assad and his Lebanese ally Hezbollah through crude oil.
