Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar presented the award to 30 media institutions on Tuesday, recognizing his contribution in promoting health through yoga. The first International Yoga Day Media Honors were conferred in three categories. Media organizations receiving the award include Jan Tiranga 90.4 in Assamese language, FM Rainbow in Bangla language, All India Radio Medikeri in Kannada, All India Radio Thiruvananthapuram in Malayalam, All India Radio Aurangabad in Marathi, Radio Misty in Nepali, Hello FM in Tamil , All India Radio Hyderabad in Telugu, All India Radio Rampur (UP) in Hindi, Fever 104 FM in Hindi, All in Hindi only India Radio New Delhi, Sandesh News Ahmedabad in Gujarati, Odisha TV Limited in Odissi, Doordarshan Center Chennai in Tamil, DD Center Srinagar in Urdu, DD News New Delhi in Hindi, Central Production Center in Hindi, Doordarshan New Delhi.

Javadekar called this honor unique. The Union Minister said that this is the first such ceremony of its kind that will recognize the new efforts and trends of media organizations. This initiative has gone beyond news, ideas, advertising to work as a mission for the greater benefit of society.
The Union Minister said that media organizations are working to spread awareness about Suraj where good healthcare, education, civic facilities are available to all. He said that Yoga has been respected globally due to the efforts and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On this occasion, Ayush Minister Shripad Yasho Naik thanked Prakash Javadekar for starting a new initiative of Yoga Day Media Award.
