People living in South Delhi Municipal Corporation area will not be hit by property tax. In the FY 2020-21, people will be charged the same property tax as is currently being charged.

At the last meeting on the budget, the budget proposal of the corporator recently presented for the increase in property tax was completely rejected on Friday. The special meeting of the committee held at the Civic Center, as well as the proposal to increase the tax including professional tax, were rejected.

The meeting chaired by Mayor Sunita Kangra was also present at the meeting. Leader of the House Kamaljeet Sehrawat announced that all proposals to increase property tax are repealed.

The proposal of the corporator said that three categories A-B, CD-E and F-GH were repealed. At present property tax of 12 percent is levied from A-B category, 10 from C-D-E and 7 percent from F-G-H category assets. Now there will be no increase in property tax after the proposal for change is repealed.

Leader House in the meeting also repealed the proposal for one percent increase in conversion fee. The target of conversion charges for the coming financial year has been set at Rs 700 crore. The increase in conversion charges also increased the economic burden on people's pockets. People will not be charged one per cent increased transfer fee.
