Rajesh Kumar Arya, a student of Jawaharlal Nehru University, claimed on Wednesday that he resorted to lies to avoid masked attackers on Sunday. She said that she is a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Then he saved his life by going somewhere.

Rajesh, a student of the School of International Studies, said this in front of the four-member Fact Finding Committee of the Congress. The committee recorded Rajesh's statement. The committee is recording the statements of all the injured and affected.

Rajesh told the panel that he was in the Sabarmati hostel at seven thirty on Sunday evening when 20 masked men came in with sticks, poles, hammers and barges. Rajesh's room was on the second floor. When he peeped down from there, the attackers roamed the rooms and beat the students.

Everyone's faces were covered. An attacker looked at him and shouted, “Look someone is up.” Rajesh switched off the lights of his room and plugged it inside. Some attackers beat the door and one broke the skylight.

He felt that now there is no way to escape, fearfully opened the door. I folded my hands in front of them. They surrounded me and pushed me into a corner. Some stood on my bed. They asked me about the name and political attachment.

He started saying something, beating it on the floor. I said, 'I am also from ABVP.' He asked me 'Who do you know in the organization?' I took some names, but they were not impressed. He said, 'Subut Do'. I showed him the book 'Hindu Nationalism – A Reader', which I was reading.

He saw the book, turned a few pages and walked away. About the committee, Congress spokesperson and Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev said that she has met the faculty and students. She is getting to know facts from him. We cannot say anything now, because there are many sides.
